  1. Wow... I have LOTS to say about your list!

Try again on Little Women. John Steinbeck is great. If you don't like Grapes of Wrath, try East of Eden. The Hunchback is great too. Give it a chance! :)

    Man, I love Charles Dickens!

Frankenstein and Dracula are both great... but especially Frankenstein.

I loved Count of Monte Cristo, Three Musketeers, WH, S and S. A Brave New World was okay.

I tried to re-read The Scarlett Letter once, couldn't do it.

From your regret list, the only one I've read is Heart of Darkness, and that was way back in school and I remember not understanding a thing.

As for my own list, I'll have to ponder a bit! But it would be a fun ponder, so I'll probably end up doing my own post!

  2. I absolutely LOVED The Count of Monte Cristo. I read Wuthering Heights in January and I did enjoy it but it wasn't my favorite. I don't know what drew me the read monte cristo and I really couldn't pin point why I loved it so much - I just really liked it.
I read S & S a few years back. I really love the movie and felt like I needed to read the book.
I also say try again on little women. I read in a while back - just after I was married and enjoyed it- but then you know how sometimes you just have to be in the right frame of mind to really enjoy a book - I think that is how Little Women was for me.

  3. Oh and by the way I hated Farenheit 451 - I can't remember why I just did. But that's just my 2 cents :)

  4. Oh, I would recommend East of Eden by Steinbeck (awesome awesome awesome), and To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee is totally necessary to your life. Seriously. Seriously, seriously, seriously. Go read it today. Drop whatever you are doing and go to Borders and buy it.

  5. I've answered on my own blog.

    I love, love, love Frankenstein.
I also really really enjoyed Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
    And Dracula was awesome.

To Kill A Mockingbird is definitely a must read. :)
Loved The Count of Monte Cristo. It's probably in my top five or top ten books ever.
Also loved, loved, loved The Three Musketeers. I'd add that you'd *want* to read it in the Richard Pevears translation. It came out in 2006, a new translation in English from the original French. It's just so very very well done.

I loved Farenheit 451 though I never can spell it right.
